THE MASTERPIECE AND THE HUMAN FIGURE ● THOMAS FLUHARTY

.

DESCRIPTION OF TEH WORKSHOP

The emphasis of this workshop with Thomas Fluharty is to draw the figure dynamically using his Prismacolor 901- Indigo Blue drawing technique.
This workshop is not just based on the 901, but rather around all the concepts that Thomas uses in every drawing he does with the 901 pencil, combining classic education with a touch of exaggeration.

There are two things Thomas particularly likes about this workshop:
– we will be drawing from the masters
– AND we will draw at the Louvre
After all, who doesn’t want to study the masters, learn dynamic drawing and spend a day at the Louvre?

At the end of this workshop, participants will have many studies and multiples drawings PLUS one fully finished rendering of a master painting in the 901 Indigo Blue approach, full of wonk and circumstance!

THE TEACHER

After working for over thirty years in editorial and as a storyboard artist, Thomas Fluharty decided to create a body of work for himself, and for the enjoyment of others, by painting what he loves and focusing on pop culture icons.
Thomas Fluharty was classically trained in Dutch and Flemish oil painting techniques, and was strongly inspired by painting icons William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Rembrandt. Their methods appeared to be a logical way to represent contemporary pop culture icons, which have acquired a larger than life status.
