THE TEACHER

Florian Satzinger, winner of Austria’s Nemoland Award, was a student of the late Ken Southworth, animator and animation director at Disney, MGM and Hanna-Barbera, who greatly influenced him.
Florian trained at the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (Canada), and the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries at Middlesex University, London (UK).
Having worked as a character designer and visual development artist for clients such as Warner Bros, Disney, ReelFX and The Zanuck Company, Florian Satzinger is currently developing, with French Disney scriptwriter Denis-Pierre Filippi, a brand new (as yet untitled) Donald Duck comic book album, and working on his own independent projects under the “DUCKLAND” and “PAPERWALKER” labels.
Florian Satzinger is a member of the Creative Talent Network, a Los Angeles-based community of traditional and digital animators.

Monday, February 24
- Day - 01
- Introduction to the process. Approach, dealing with references, plan goals and about our best friends in the upcoming design, good old perspective drawing and geometry.
Tuesday, February 25
- Day - 02
- The perspective stage. Design need space. We build a stage in which we design our vehicles. Basic form lesson and how light and shadow help us in the design almost like an assistant.
Wednesday, February 26
- Day - 03
- « Who is driving the damn thing and where are they doing it? » The cockpit is a central design element. Design and Function. Even with fictional vehicles this play a crucial role in making the vehicles believable.
Thursday, February 27
- Day - 04
- Joint drawing day (I). We’re all knocking out a vehicle design today! With two, maximum three, topics to choose from.
Friday, February 28
- Day - 05
- Joint drawing day (II) and feedback session, general debriefing and advice for further work.
