DRAWING WITH STYLE ● THOMAS FLUHARTY
.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The emphasis of this intensive workshop with Thomas Fluharty is to draw dynamically using his Prismacolor 901- Indigo Blue drawing technique.
This workshop is not just based on the 901, but rather around all the concepts that Thomas uses in every drawing he does with the 901 pencil, combining classical fine arts education with a touch of exaggeration.
Participants will approach the drawing of objects (armors, weapons, furniture, …), animals and figure.
They will learn how to start from a reference, transform it, exaggerate it to make a design, an illustration.
There are two things Thomas particularly likes about this workshop:
– we will draw from the masters
– AND we will draw in different Parisian museums (including the Louvre!)
After all, who doesn’t want to study and learn dynamic drawing by spending several days in Parisian museums?

THE TEACHER
After working for over thirty years in editorial and as a storyboard artist, Thomas Fluharty decided to create a body of work for himself, and for the enjoyment of others, by painting what he loves and focusing on pop culture icons.
Thomas Fluharty was classically trained in Dutch and Flemish oil painting techniques, and was strongly inspired by painting icons William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Rembrandt. Their methods appeared to be a logical way to represent contemporary pop culture icons, which have acquired a larger than life status.
