WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Throughout this two-week workshop with Wouter Tulp, you’ll learn the basics of character design.
You’ll explore different types of shapes, volumes, and their importance in character creation.
You’ll also learn how to effectively integrate your character into a setting, choose a pose and expression, and more.
The workshop will alternate between theory, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises.

THE TEACHER

Wouter Tulp began his career as a freelance illustrator, creating a wide variety of illustrations, including children’s books, book covers, editorial illustrations, and cartoons. This diversity of work helped him shape and refine his technique and artistry, ultimately leading him to become a versatile character designer for animated feature films, which is now his primary focus.
Wouter has worked for studios such as Sony Pictures Animation, Paramount Pictures Animation, Netflix, Skydance, and many others.
He enjoys sharing what he has learned over the years and helping aspiring artists improve their craft. To that end, he teaches at Schoolism and speaks at events around the world.
